CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth endorses Patron Comics of Regina Caeli Publishing

Endorsement of Patron Comics by CBCP
Commission on Youth
In a previous article, I interviewed AJ Perez of Patron Comics and we learned that the comics is a graphic novel that crosses Power Rangers with Catholic exorcism:
A small rural city is rocked by CPS, or comatose possession syndrome, a kind of demonic possession where the victim is comatose and cannot be exorcised the usual way. A group of teens have to enter a spiritual dimension called the Portal, a dimension that reflects the sins of the possessed, in order to release his soul from CPS and the exorcism to take place. While they are not doing exorcisms, the team is mentored by a priest who develops their talents and character in an effort to lead them along the path to holiness. But they struggle along the path to sainthood, as they battle their personal and family issues. In a nutshell, they battle demons, while waging war against their own inner demons.
I am glad to receive the news that Bishop Leopoldo Jaucian, Chair of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth, has recommended Patron Comics  after receiving the endorsement of Fr. Jocis Syquia, Minister, Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism.  And Bishop Jaucian even quoted Pope Francis! Below is the Bishop's recommendation letter:

Episcopal Commmision on Youth

"But Father, how old fashioned you are to speak about the devil in the 21st century!" But look out because the devil is present!  The devil is here... even in the 21st century!"--Pope Franics, in his 2014 April 11 homily at Domus Sanctae Marthae
Known for his words and gestures which call renewed attention to Christ and his Gospel, Pope Francis also reminds us of the enemy who is the devil.  The rest of the Church will do well to take heed, take strength from the Lord Jesus, and take anew the cudgels of the battle.

The Episcopal Commission on Youth is happy to know that Patron Comics is born to respond to this, as well as to participate creatively in the New Evangelization.  Targeting the youth bracket, Patron Comics, a comic book series that is "100% entertainment fused with 100% Catechism," while centering on the theme of exorcism, also emphasizes on holiness, which is the goal and standard of ordinary Christian life, through the Sacraments (especially confession and communion) and through the fulfilling of one's duties with love.

We are grateful to God for raising and sustaining in His Church various initiatives to build up His Reign in the hearts of everyone.  One such initiative of Patron Comics of Regina Caeli Publishing, which we highly endorse and promote to all the faithful, especially those responsible for the Christian education and formation of our young people--those in parishes, in Catholic schools, in catechism and religious instruction, in youth groups, and other settings.

Recalling the moment when the disciples returned to the Lord Jesus, rejoicing that the evil spirits were subject to them because of the Lord's Name, we too will do well to be reminded of what Jesus told them:
"Behold, I have given you the power 'to tread upon serpents' and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you.  Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven." [Luke 10:19-20, NABRE]
Let us do this spiritual battle, for and with the youth, in the joy of the Lord always!
